Maingear launches Pulse 15, 15-inch gaming notebook with 3K display(United News of Bangladesh Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dhaka, July 28 (UNB) - Maingear announced a new notebook in its Pulse last week series called the Pulse 15. Following on the design of the Pulse 17, the new 15-inch model crams many of the same components into a smaller shell. The Pulse 15 packs power into a chassis that is only 0.75 inches tall when folded, with a weight of less than four pounds. Maingear states it's the thinnest 15-inch notebook they have ever produced. "The Pulse 15 is the perfect balance of size, weight, performance in a notebook," said Maingear CEO Wallace Santos. "Packed with performance from Intel and Nvidia, and customized with our new matte color paint finish, we are very excited to offer this amazing 3K notebook to our customers." The 15-inch display for the Pulse 15 offers a 3K wide-view IPS for a resolution of 2880 x 1620. The Pulse 15 allows additional displays to be attached to through a mini DisplayPort and an HDMI 1.4 port. Graphics are powered by an Nvidia GeForce 870M with 3GB of DDR5 RAM. Providing computing power to the notebook is an Intel Core i7 4710HQ 2.5GHz processor. Memory for the machine is 16GB of DDR3 1600MHz, enough to handle most gaming or video editing needs on the go. Storage includes a 128GB mSATA solid state drive and a 1TB, 7200RPM hard disk drive. Some of the smaller features of the Pulse 15 include three USB 3.0 ports, a built-in 7-in-1 card reader, a 5400mAh battery, Killer E2200 Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and two speakers and a subwoofer powered by Sound Blaster Cinema 2. The Pulse 15 comes loaded with Windows 8.1, but buyers can downgrade to a version of Windows 7 for a fee. Upgrade options for Maingear's new notebook are somewhat limited. While there are a number of add-ons like keyboards, monitors or an Nvidia Shield, the three core components cannot be changed. Consumers are locked into the Core i7, the RAM and GeForce graphics. However, storage can be upgraded to give buyers additional mSATA drives or a Seagate hybrid drive. The external optical drive can be improved to a Blu-ray burner or dropped entirely for a savings of $27. The Pulse 15 is scheduled to ship on August 10, with a starting price tag of $2,200. --Electronista |
