ManageEngine launches free Android app for Wi-Fi analysis [ITP.net (United Arab Emirates)]

(ITP.net (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Real-time IT management company ManageEngine today launched Wi-Fi Monitor Plus, a free diagnostic app that lets IT admins monitor and analyse Wi-Fi signals from Android mobile devices.

The app offers both Analyzer and Surveyor modes, making "it the first Wi-Fi monitor to offer both modes in one app", according to ManageEngine.

Analyzer mode lets users view available networks; graphs of a scanned network's signal strength; and channels with interference. Surveyor mode allows users to survey a site for the best signal strength. A heat-map feature indicates the strength of the scanned Wi-Fi networks. Users can upload floor plans and appraise different locations within a site for their signal strength. The app also has a Channel Graph widget that users can add to their device's home screen.

"IT admins responsible for ensuring good network connectivity will immensely benefit from this app," said Vidya Vasu, head of the ManageEngine community and Free Tools.

"The channel interference graph that shows both co-channel and inter-channel interference is a unique functionality that adds value by equipping the IT admins with actionable information. They can quickly decide on a course of action such as turning off a channel to increase the Wi-Fi signal strength." (c) 2014 ITP Business Publishing Ltd. All Rights Reserved.
