Vega joins Oll.tv IPTV partnership with Ukrtelecom [TeleGeography CommsUpdate]

(TeleGeography CommsUpdate Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Ukrainian fixed network operator Vega has followed up the recent launch of IPTV services by its larger sister company Ukrtelecom with a similar expanded IPTV offering of its own, featuring 136 TV channels, including twelve high-definition (HD) channels, and the option of pre-paid billing. As reported by CommsUpdate, earlier this month Ukrtelecom and another sister company Oll.tv – part of conglomerate SCM's Media Group Ukraine division – launched commercial IPTV services under the brand 'Interactive TV', using Oll.tv's IPTV licences, and Vega confirms in its website announcement that the new 'Vega TV' service is also based on the intra-group's partnership with Oll.tv. Vega TV customers can choose from three packages, similar in specification to the Interactive TV packages. TeleGeography's GlobalComms Database notes that Vega – unlike Ukrtelecom – had previously directly obtained some regional commercial IPTV licences, albeit in limited zones, under which it had launched IPTV services, but like its bigger sister, last year it opted for a wider reach of video services for customers via an OTT tie-up with Oll.tv, before the latest expansion to a full IPTV set-top box-based service for its fixed broadband subscribers.

In related news, ProIT reports that Oll.tv (registered as Digital Screens) has received a further ten regional IPTV operating licences from the broadcasting regulator, covering: Kirovohrad, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolayiv, Poltava, Rivne, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv. The new licences add to Oll.tv's existing IPTV licences covering: Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Kiev (region), Dnipropetrovsk, Transcarpathian, Zaporozhye, Vinnitsa, Kherson, Sumy, Donetsk, Volyn, Kharkov, Odessa, Crimea, Kiev (city) and Sevastopol.
