Connecticut Open adds Frontier Communications as platinum sponsor [New Haven Register, Conn. :: ]


(New Haven Register (CT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 24--Frontier Communications Corp. has signed on as a platinum sponsor of the Connecticut Open, tournament director Anne Worcester announced Thursday.

It is a one-year deal for Frontier, which joins BNY Melon, Citizen, Emirates, Esurance and Perricone MD as platinum sponsors.

"Adding Frontier Communications as a Platinum Sponsor for 2014 is fantastic news for the Connecticut Open and we look forward to growing the relationship for many years to come," Worcester said in a press release. "Frontier's leadership understood the importance of the tournament to Connecticut -- especially the New Haven community -- and wanted to play a significant role in supporting the event's success." Frontier, a Connecticut-based company since 1946, offers broadband, voice, satellite video, wireless internet data access and other technologies for residential customers and business.



The Connecticut Open inked a two-year deal worth about $2 million last month with title sponsor United Technologies. Cornerstone sponsors Aetna, American Express, First Niagara, Yale University and Yale-New Haven Hospital are also locked into multi-year deals.

This year's tournament is scheduled for Aug. 15-23 at the Connecticut Tennis Center.


Family Classic finals set The finalists for the Connecticut Open Family Classic are set. Championship matches will take place on Aug. 21 at the Connecticut Tennis Center.

The finalists are: Parent/Child 10U -- Magic and Olivia Lincer (Windsor), Jennifer and Jalen Johnson (Easton); Father/Child 12U -- Tom and Amanda Conrod (Sandy Hook), Thomas and Nicholas Steiglehner (Groton); Father/Child 14U -- Greg and Christian Hartch (Greenwich), David and Sam Feldman (Brookline, Mass.); Father/Child 18U -- Ron and Devon Chofay (Narragansett, R.I.), Brian and Peter Mao (South Windsor); Husband/Wife -- Kevin and Vicki Madonna (Hurley, N.Y.), Greg and Courtney Sansonetti (Stratford); Mother/Child 12U -- Mary Ann and Katie Wiley (Darien), Yvonne and Ally D'Aquinos (Weston); Mother/Child 14U -- Heide and Alexander Merijian (New Canaan); Wendy and Henry Murphy (Wilton); Mother/Child 18U -- Stephanie and Gregory Portner (Weston), Amy and Henry Johnson (Fairfield); Parent/Child Open -- William and Austin DuBois (Simsbury); Mark and Matt Colonnese (Madison).

ESPN announces coverage times ESPN announced it will air both the tournament semifinals and the championship, which is on Aug. 23 at 3 p.m. Commentators have yet to be determined.
