Nigeria's two time oil minister, OPEC leader dies at 75 [Agence de Presse Africaine]


(Agence de Presse Africaine Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Nigeria's long serving former petroleum minister and head of OPEC, Dr. Rilwanu Lukaman, has died at the age of 75, family sources told APA on Monday.Lukman served as minister of petroleum between 1986 and 1990, and then again between 2008 and 2010, in addition to heading state-run Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) between 1999 and 2003.



He had served in many capacities and assisted in solving crisis in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), a bloc made up oil producers.

He served as Secretary-General of OPEC between 1995 and 2000 and as president three times between 1986 and 2002.
