Militant training accused's case goes to High Court [New Straits Time (Malaysia)](New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KUALA KANGSAR: The case of a farm operator charged at the magistrate's court here last week with providing military training to those preparing for involvement in militant activities in Syria was transferred to the Kuala Lumpur High Court. Magistrate Noordura Mohamed made the decision yesterday after hearing an application by deputy public prosecutor Shukor Abu Bakar, who said the chief justice had instructed all security-related offences under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 to be heard at the High Court as provided for under Section 12 of the same act. "I ask that permission be granted to transfer this case from the magistrate's court here to the High Court in Kuala Lumpur where there is a special High Court to hear such cases." Shukor also applied for Muamar Gadaffi Mohamad Shafawi, 30, to be detained at the Sungai Buloh Prison instead of the Taiping Prison where he was being held, to ensure smooth proceedings. Noordura granted both applications. No date was fixed for re-mention of the case at the High Court. On July 11, Muamar Gadaffi was charged with providing military training for the purpose of extending an ideology that would pose a threat to the people in Syria here last year. No plea was recorded from Muamar Gadaffi. He was represented by defence counsel Mohd Fitri Asmuni. Fitri was not present in court yesterday.
