Du launches cross-platform access to Google apps [ITP.net (United Arab Emirates)]

(ITP.net (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dubai-based telecoms operator has announced that its home customers will now be able to access a new Google Family Application Suite, which will deliver Google services such as Gmail, Calendar and Hangouts through one centralised account.

The new unified solution will be available through du's home service packages and payable through standard monthly service fees.

"This unique service solution will give du Home Service customers easy access to some of Google's main apps from the unified Family Application Suite, with the chance to stay connected and informed across multiple devices," du said in a statement.

File, photo and video cloud storage via Google Drive will be available in the Family Application Suite, plus real-time collaboration with a dedicated family email address and family access to Google Docs. All of this will be provided with multiple device access across different operating systems and browsers.

The service will be rolled out in phases, allowing customers access through their mobile, Internet and eventually their duTV.

"Our partnership with Google is an exciting way of bringing more innovation and convenience into our home services customers' lives," said Fahad Al Hassawi, chief commercial officer, du.

"As our devices get smarter there is increased convergence between all screens - television, smartphone and computer - as services become integrated and accessible through the customers' device of choice. This partnership puts the power of the cloud at our customers' fingertips, empowering them with higher levels of connectivity with the people and things that are most important to them."
