Pena House segues into Luce skincare products [Bangkok Post, Thailand :: ]

(Bangkok Post (Thailand) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 17--Pena House Group, the maker of Pena-brand fashion items and operator of Premium Outlet Cha-am, has diversified into cosmetics with skincare products under the Luce label.

The expansion is expected to help build the group's sustainable growth in the long term.

Its other businesses are clothing, retailing, outlet malls, hotels, a theme park, water park and lifestyle park.

Wholly owned subsidiary Iyara Cosmetics Co will operate the Luce skincare business.

Rojanee Boonyarat, marketing director of Pena Outlet Mall Co, an operator of premium outlet malls, said the Luce brand had been on sale since the second quarter and was aimed at upper-middle-income customers.

Initially, the group has two products ? facial skincare and foundation cream, priced at 5,900 and 1,950 baht, respectively.

Luce products are developed jointly by the group and a leading skincare-product maker in Japan.

Imported from Japan, they are available via online and TV shopping.

Pena House is the brand owner through subsidiary Iyara Cosmetics Co, which recently hired actress Pornthip "Ae" Sakidjai as its brand ambassador.

"Market response for Luce has been better than expected, and we see a huge potential for skincare products," Ms Rojanee said.

She said the group was buying more land to extend the space of its Santorini amusement and water park in Cha-am at a cost of 100 million baht.

Some 5,000 people visit its water park at weekends even though its capacity is only 3,000. About 95% are Thais, with 80% coming from Bangkok.

The group plans to develop more space and add new attractions.

At Camel Republic, a new lifestyle park opposite Santorini, the group opened some zones last week, while the whole park will be fully operational by the end of this month.

The 300-million-baht park will give visitors the chance to see camels and enjoy riding them. The group has imported 10 camels from South Africa that are being trained.

Visitors can also feed carp, ducks, small goats and deer.
