AAAS and Jisc Collaborative Expands UK Access to Science Classic

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is partnering with Jisc (Jisc) to make the entire Science Classic archives available to scholars, students, and research staff at institutions of higher and further education in the United Kingdom. Through this partnership, all Science articles published from the creation of the journal to the release of Science Online, a timespan that covers 1880-1996, are made available to the UK research community. Access to Science Classic is available directly through ScienceClassic.org.

AAAS is the publisher of Science, the largest peer-reviewed general science journal with paid circulation, and also publishes two leading research journals for translational medicine and cell signaling. Science Classic, the early digital archives of Science, delivers key Science articles throughout history, and is fully integrated with current Science content to ease general queries of the entire research publication collection.

"Science Classic is the ideal resource to expand the research capability of our UK audience," said Beth Rosner, the publisher of Science. "We are excited for the opportunities this collaboration affrds for both Science and partnering UK universities and research institutions. The agreement with Jisc will benefit students and staff members at the higher education level with direct access to landmark papers, broad scientific news, and cutting-edge research."
