Qosmos Awarded a 2014 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Paris, France (PRWEB) July 03, 2014 Qosmos®, the market leader in embedded Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and network intelligence technology for use in physical, virtualized and in SDN/NFV architectures, announced today that TMC, a global, integrated media company, has awarded Qosmos DPI VNFC (Deep Packet Inspection Virtual Network Function Component) a 2014 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award.

Qosmos DPI VNFC is intended for telecom equipment vendors and integrators who wish to accelerate and facilitate deployment of next-generation solutions requiring agility in addition to detailed, real-time traffic understanding up to layer 7. The component runs in a standalone virtual machine and uses an optimized and standard inline or out-of-band interface to feed application information and metadata to other integrated components, together forming virtual network functions (VNFs).

Qosmos DPI VNFC replies to network service provider requirements to optimize capex and opex while reducing time-to-market for new services:    •  In a telecom environment, Qosmos DPI VNFC can optimize a virtual Evolved Packet Core, by feeding real-time traffic information to a virtual PDN-Gateway that can trigger multiple functions such as quality of service (QoS) management or application data metering to enable disruptive mobile data plans (application freemium, application premium, etc.). This means that operators can optimize costs through improved equipment utilization while securing service level agreements (SLAs) through dynamic and rapid instantiations;    •  As the first virtual DPI component in line with ETSI standards, Qosmos DPI VNFC will make interworking much easier between different functions and applications;    •  Innovation and application development are made easier, since DPI and Layer 7 intelligence will be provided by an off-the-shelf virtual component, based on proven, market-leading application intelligence technologies.

Qosmos showcased the world's first demo of its DPI VNFC at Mobile World Congress in February 2014. The demo showed Qosmos DPI VNFC within a virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) framework for 4G broadband mobile networks, designed in accordance with ETSI NFV principles.

"We are delighted to receive the 2014 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award. It recognizes our commitment to developing innovative technologies that contribute to accelerating the deployment and adoption of next-generation networks," said Erik Larsson, Vice President of Marketing, Qosmos. "Qosmos DPI VNFC represents a new opportunity for telco equipment vendors and integrators to provide the built-in application intelligence required for service-awareness in NFV environments." "Congratulations to Qosmos for receiving a 2014 INTERNET TELEPHONY NFV Pioneer Award," said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "Qosmos DPI VNFC has demonstrated true innovation and is leading the way for Network Function Virtualization. I look forward to continued excellence from Qosmos in 2014 and beyond." TMC announced the results via press release and the winners will be published in INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.
