Scots app crops up for African farmers [Evening Times (Glasgow, Scotland)](Evening Times (Glasgow, Scotland) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) A MOBILE app developed in Glasgow has the potential to help millions of farmers in East Africa. Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon saw first hand the new technology which could revolutionise tens of thousands of people's lives. The VetAfrica app will allow vets, farmers and others animal health workers in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania to diagnose diseases quickly and identify the most effective drugs. The app was developed by Glasgow-based technology company Cojengo, in partnership with US software giant Microsoft and its 4Afrika initiative. Ms Sturgeon said the technology would tap into a "mobile revolution" on the continent, as she met with representatives of both companies in Glasgow. "Working with Microsoft, the company has embraced and tapped into the mobile revolution sweeping Africa. "Cojengo is a shin ing example of a new generation of creative Scottish companies with the ambition and skills to create and grow successful businesses." The company was supported by Business Gateway Glasgow, Scottish Enterprise, University of Strathclyde's Entrepreneurial Network and the Gabriel Investment Syndicate to develop the technology.
