Community Colleges Chancellor Brice W. Harris Lauds Appointments to Board of Governors


(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SACRAMENTO, Calif., June 30 -- The California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office issued the following news release: California Community Colleges Chancellor Brice W. Harris issued the following statement on Gov. Jerry Brown's appointment of Scott Budnick and the reappointment of Danny Hawkins to the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges: "The appointment of Scott Budnick will bring new expertise and insight to our board as it pursues the twin priorities of expanding access to California community colleges and helping more students succeed and achieve their educational goals. We are equally pleased that Danny Hawkins, who serves our system in several capacities, will continue as a member of the Board of Governors." Scott Budnick, 37, of Los Angeles, has been executive vice president of production and film producer at Green Hat Films from 1999 to 2013. He is founder of The Anti-Recidivism Coalition and a member of the California Board of State and Community Corrections. Budnick is a teacher and advisory board member for InsideOUT Writers. He is a member of the Los Angeles Conservation Corps Board of Directors and the Loyola Law School Center for Juvenile Law and Policy Advisory Board.



Danny Hawkins, 47, of San Jose, has served as the senior systems administrator for the San Jose - Evergreen Community College District since 1997. He served as the systems manager at the Santa Clara University, Office of Undergraduate Admission from 1988 to 1997. Hawkins is a member of the California School Employees Association.

The California Community Colleges is the largest system of higher education in the nation composed of 72 districts and 112 colleges serving 2.1 million students per year. Community colleges supply workforce training, basic skills education and prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions. The Chancellor's Office provides leadership, advocacy and support under the direction of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges.
