Wake Tech Board of Trustees Names New Chairman

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) RALEIGH, N.C., June 20 -- Wake Technical Community College issued the following news release: The Wake Tech Board of Trustees has a new leader: Harvey Montague, the longest-serving member of the board, has been named its new chairman. Montague joined the board in 1996 and has served as Vice Chair since 2008. He succeeds Jim Perry.

"We're fortunate indeed that Harvey wants to continue to provide leadership to Wake Tech," says President Stephen C. Scott. "He has guided the college in so many ways during his years as a trustee, and he is the ideal choice for this critical position." A native of Wake County, Montague has devoted his career to the growth and development of the local community. He has worked on a wide range of projects that include WakeMed, Holiday Inn motels, and facilities for the 82nd Airborne Division. He became a licensed general contractor in 1963 and established Montague Building Company, constructing churches, homes, and commercial properties throughout the region.

Outgoing Chairman Jim Perry, former CEO and current Chairman of the Board of Waste Industries, served on the Wake Tech Board of Trustees for 12 years. He became chairman in 2008 and has presided over the college during a period of unprecedented growth. Perry was recognized for his years of service at the board's June meeting. The Board of Trustees also appointed board member Ron Wainwright as Vice Chair.
