Port operator appoints a new commercial director ; Movers&Shakers [Hull Daily Mail (England)]


(Hull Daily Mail (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SHIPPING: A UK port operator has appointed a new commercial director as it looks to grow the business.

Jens Skibsted Nielsen, pictured, has joined Associated British Ports (ABP) with more than 30 years of experience in Europe's marine, transport and logistics industries.

Jens will be working with ABP's board to work on developing customer service and building on ABP's network of 21 ports around the UK.

Mr Nielsen said: "I am proud to join ABP, which has such a strong reputation in the industry and a fantastic operational track record. "I'm really looking forward to working with our customers to ensure we support and contribute to delivering their business objectives while meeting our own demanding aspirations.



"It's an exciting time in a fast-developing sector ripe with opportunity. My aim will be to make sure we seize those opportunities." ABP is the main operator of ports across the Humber, including Hull.

ABP chief executive James Cooper said: "We delighted to welcome Jens on board. "With plans to invest more than Pounds 800m in the years ahead, ABP is already delivering significant growth in the business.
