BRIEF: Raeford man charged with insurance fraud [The Fayetteville Observer, N.C. :: ]

(Fayetteville Observer (NC) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) June 11--RAEFORD -- A Raeford man has been charged in an insurance fraud scheme that continued for four years, the Hoke County Sheriff's Office said.

Jeffrey Antwon Judd Jr., 24, of the 100 block of Huckabee Street, was charged with obtaining property by false pretenses.

Police in Kansas City, Missouri, notified Hoke County investigators June 11 that someone in Hoke County was filing false insurance claims to receive devices including cellular phones and tablet computers from Asurion Insurance Company in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a news release.

The Hoke County investigation led to Judd, who detectives said fraudulently obtained several hundred devices worth a total of more than more than $50,000, the release said.

Warrants for conspiracy are pending against another suspect detectives believe is the ringleader of the fraud scheme, the release stated.
