TwinStrata: iostudio Taps CloudArray [Professional Services Close - Up]

(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TwinStrata reported that marketing and advertising agency iostudio has successfully implemented CloudArray to simplify the storage, management and offsite protection of its growing multimedia data.

According to a release from the Company, the solution, backed by Google Cloud Storage, has saved the company more than $400,000 by eliminating the need to purchase and maintain additional onsite and offsite storage.

As part of its previous data storage and protection strategy, iostudio relied on tapes, onsite storage and a colocation facility for media archival, backup and offsite data protection. This approach was time-intensive, inefficient, and unreliable, costing more than $125,000 a year to support its disaster recovery strategy.

Since integrating CloudArray into its existing environment, iostudio has simplified storage management for the company's media files and replaced its previously complex and manual process with a simple, fully automated solution. Today, iostudio replicates its nearly 100 terabytes (TBs) of production video data to a Google Cloud Storage-backed CloudArray appliance that effectively creates multiple backup copies -- a full version onsite and geo-replicated copies in the cloud. Instead of having to administer a complicated mix of expensive parts, iostudio now relies on CloudArray's single cloud-integrated storage solution to manage both onsite storage capacity issues and offsite data protection.

Given its success with archiving media files, iostudio also plans to move more traditional backups and other archive data to the cloud via CloudArray.

John Skinner, Network Engineer at iostudio, said: "We looked at connecting directly to the cloud, but the process of connecting to the API just seemed so challenging, particularly for video files. CloudArray has the ability to serve as primary storage for an entire company. It cuts out about 20 different steps all at once -- from backups to maintenance to worrying about RAID to connecting directly to the cloud. With the brilliant simplicity of CloudArray, we're able to backup and archive all our video files in the cloud, and never have to worry about those issues again."
