Wendy Machin to Hand over Reigns After 6 Years As President & Chairman(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NORTH STRATHFIELD, Australia, May 9 -- The NRMA Monitoring and Services issued the following news release: NRMA Motoring & Services President Wendy Machin has advised her fellow Directors at a Board meeting this week that she will be stepping down as NRMA President, with NRMA Director Kyle Loades to take over from 1 July 2014. Ms Machin first joined the NRMA Board in 2005 and was elected President in 2008. She will continue to serve as President until 1 July 2014 and will take up the position of Deputy- President after that date. Working alongside Group CEO Tony Stuart and her fellow directors, Ms Machin helped steer the NRMA through the Global Financial Crisis, with the NRMA remaining largely unscathed. In the years that followed the NRMA has recorded strong financial results and increased its service to Members through a range of new businesses. Throughout her tenure the NRMA has also grown to over 2.5 million Members, ensuring it remains Australia's largest membership organisation and the nation's largest mutual. Ms Machin also led considerable changes to the governance structures at the NRMA, which has resulted in the NRMA now becoming the most trusted, transparent membership organisation in the country. The last six years has also seen some of the most significant advocacy wins in the NRMA's 94-year history, including record funding for NSW and ACT roads, an extra point on the licences of NSW drivers, substantial upgrades to the nation's most dangerous road - the Pacific Highway, improvements to the license regime for younger and older drivers and new standards for price boards out the front of service stations across NSW. Perhaps the most significant advocacy achievement under Ms Machin's tenure was the NRMA's success in securing a commitment by the Australian and NSW Governments to build the much needed WestConnex Motorway in Sydney's West. Ms Machin said an effective succession plan and smooth transition for Presidency was important for the continued stability of the NRMA. "Being President of the world's best motoring club has been an amazing journey and I am deeply grateful to my fellow directors, the NRMA team and all our Members for their support and encouragement," Ms Machin said. "I've always believed that how you finish a job is as important as how you start, which is why I have worked on this succession plan with my fellow directors for some time. "There was a time when a changing of the guard at the NRMA was accompanied by a circus of board infighting and negative headlines - thankfully that's a thing of the past and the NRMA's governance practices today are among the best in the corporate world. "It has been an honour to lead a team of directors who understand that it's not about us - it's about the Members - and this is reflected in the outstanding things we've achieved together over the last six years. "I now look forward to working with Kyle as Deputy-President and our team of directors in growing this amazing organisation that so many people in the community cherish and trust."
