DE-CIX New York Establishes Point of Presence at 325 Hudson

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 05/06/14 -- 325 Hudson, the carrier-neutral core interconnection facility strategically located on the fiber-dense crossroads of Hudson Street and the Holland Tunnel in New York City, announces that DE-CIX, the world's largest Internet exchange (IX) operator rated by traffic throughput, has established a distributed Internet exchange at 325 Hudson, allowing all customers to exchange their IP traffic seamlessly. The DE-CIX exchange in North America is called DE-CIX New York.

DE-CIX is a provider of premium IX services to all kinds of networks and operates several carrier-neutral and independent Internet exchanges in the world, including DE-CIX Frankfurt, the world's largest IX. All types of ISPs, including broadband providers, content delivery networks (CDNs), web hosters, and incumbent operators use DE-CIX services to improve their IP performance and lower their IP transit costs.

DE-CIX operates the industry's most robust and advanced peering platforms. In 2013, DE-CIX implemented its new flagship platform, DE-CIX Apollon, in its Frankfurt exchange. In early 2014, DE-CIX New York also implemented the DE-CIX Apollon platform. DE-CIX Apollon is the world's largest and most advanced Ethernet interconnection platform. Built on "Supernodes" that consist of a 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GE)-capable switching system that supports large numbers of 100 GE ports across the switching fabric, DE-CIX Apollon delivers highly secure and resilient connectivity.

"Our goal is to make the New York/New Jersey metro market a better place for ISPs and carriers by providing Internet exchange services that are truly carrier- and data center-neutral. Reach is a crucial success factor for an IX -- therefore we decided to make 325 Hudson part of our initial deployment in New York," said Frank Orlowski, Chief Marketing Officer for DE-CIX.

"The value in operating within an ecosystem where there is no monthly recurring cross connect charge, and the capability exists to get direct access to the DE-CIX Internet exchange, is a distinct advantage for creating opportunity and growth," said Hunter Newby, Joint Venture Partner at 325 Hudson.
