America's Top 10 Youth Volunteers of 2014 to be Announced Monday

WHAT:

The top two youth volunteers from each state and Washington, D.C.
will gather for the 2014 Prudential Spirit of Community State Awards
Ceremony. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., they will hear from Prudential
Financial Chairman and CEO John Strangfeld, Academy Award-winning
actor Forest Whitaker and film and television star Sasha Pieterse.
After dinner, each honoree will be presented with a $1,000 award.
Youth volunteers from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Ireland, India and
China will also be honored.

WHAT:

|
The State Honorees will present donated books to the schools and
conduct small group reading sessions with the students.

U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Hall of Flags, 1615 H Street,
Washington, D.C.

WHAT:

|
|
Bill Basl, director of AmeriCorps at the Corporation for National
and Community Service, and Massie Ritsch, acting assistant secretary
for communications and outreach for the U.S. Department of
Education, will help announce the nation's top 10 youth volunteers
of 2014. The 10 National Honorees will be presented with personal
awards of $5,000, gold medallions, crystal trophies, and $5,000
Prudential Foundation grants for charitable organizations of their
choice.
