All Set for Annual Leadership Conference/Awards(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) All is now set for the annual LEADERSHIP Conference and Awards, which holds at the ThisDay Dome, Abuja, on May 6, 2014 as from 9. 00am. Organised by LEADERSHIP Conferences Limited, a subsidiary of LEADERSHIP Group, this year's conference is themed, "Reflections". All former heads of state and the crème de la crème have been invited to the event, which headlines former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, as the LEADERSHIP Person of the Year. Other Nigerians who distinguished themselves in 2013 will also be decorated. The awards ceremony will also recognise standout companies and brands. A statement issued by LEADERSHIP Group yesterday said those to be honoured include, Delta State governor Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan (Governor of the Year 2013); the G-7 Governors - Governor Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Governor Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Governor Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Governor Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Governor Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) - as Politicians of the Year 2013. The vice chairman of Ocean Marine Security, Mr. Olatunde Ayeni, is the Business Person of the Year 2013. The other awardees include, Simdul Shagaya (CEO Of the Year 2013); the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina (Public Officer of the Year 2013); the Group Managing Director, UBA, Mr. Philip Oduoza (Banker of the Year 2013); The former minister of the FCT, Malam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai, is the Author of the Year 2013; and Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi, is the Sports Person of the Year 2013. Others include Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (Agency of the Year 2013), Nagari Farm Yoghurt (Product of the Year 2013), Chi Limited (Company of the Year 2013), LAPO Micro Finance Bank Ltd (Micro Finance Bank of the Year 2013), Diamond Bank (Bank of the Year 2013), Swift Network Ltd (Telecom Company of the Year 2013), Jumia (ICT Of the Year 2013), SAMSUNG (Brand of the Year 2013), Ice Prince (Artist of the Year 2013) and the Golden Eaglets (Young Persons of the Year 2013). Star award winners have confirmed attendance, as have most of the 15 other individuals and corporate bodies that will also be honoured. The one-day event will be chaired by the publisher of Vanguard Media Ltd, Mr. Sam Amuka.
