Cancer Treatment Centers of America Appoints Darby as CIO [Health & Beauty Close - Up](Health & Beauty Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) has announced the appointment of Kristin Darby, CPA, MBA, as its Chief Information Officer. According to a release, in addition to serving as a member of the CTCA leadership team, Darby will be the principal architect of the organization's Information Services (IS) function which includes all clinical and non-clinical hardware and software applications, data infrastructure, warehousing and security, informatics, and system- wide technology support services. "We are delighted to have Kristin join us and assume this very critical role at CTCA," said Gerard van Grinsven, President and CEO. "She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to a discipline that is vital in today's dynamic healthcare environment. In her new role, Kristin will provide leadership and direction for all of our major IS initiatives, seeking ways to improve our information systems in a manner that will enable us continue to deliver the exceptional quality of patient-centered care for which CTCA is renowned." CTCA reported that Darby served most recently as the CIO of the Northeast Region for Tenet Healthcare, overseeing the IT and Informatics functions at nine acute care hospitals as well as nearly 100 ancillary locations. Prior to her tenure at Tenet, Darby was the CIO, VP of Information Solutions for Risk Management Foundation of the Harvard Medical Institutions, the patient safety and medical malpractice company owned by and serving the Harvard medical community. She began her career at Fresenius Medical Care, the largest dialysis products and service provider worldwide, where she held a variety of both regional and national positions, and was the Director of Information Technology before leaving to join the Risk Management Foundation. Further, Darby is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Among her many awards and recognitions, she was named "CIO of the Year" by the Mass High Tech & Boston Business Journal in 2013, and was recognized as one of the Business Journal's "40 Under 40 Rising Stars" in 2010.
