TCS TAKES THE MERGER ROUTE TO BUILD SCALE IN JAPAN

(Indian Business Insight Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The information technology (IT) company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has merged its Japanese unit with the IT arm of Mitsubishi Corp. This will give TCS a six-fold growth in its revenues and also scale in Japan, which is the world's second-largest market for software services. TCS will now have strong local presence and its full range of global capabilities to serve Japanese corporations effectively and accelerate its growth in Japan. TCS will hold 51 percent of the merged unit while Mitsubishi Corp will own 49 percent. The new unit, called TCS Japan, will have over $600 million in revenue per annum and over 2,400 employees.
