Your choices, President Obama [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]

(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) IMAGINE being the brand of choice of world leaders. For sometime now, one brand can lay claim to be the "de facto" smartphone choice of the presidents and prime ministers: the Blackberry.

One such person is the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, who has repeatedly claimed and publicly defended his loyalty towards his smart, dark mobile qwerty machine. Even the recent selfie sessions, of him with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Denmark's Prime Minister Helle Thourning Schmidt, showed them sporting a Blackberry Z10. For many years indeed, Obama and his Blackberry have been the most photographed power-couple in US politics.

But all good things must come to an end. The President may at long last be about to call time on his relationship with his beloved BlackBerry.

The suggestion that Obama may have fallen out of love with his BlackBerry surfaced months ago when it was revealed in December that he had asked if he could switch to an iPhone but was turned down amid "security concerns". Nevertheless, reports are that the White House is piloting and using a variety of other mobile Android brands with beefed-up security to better cater for the President's phone and web-browsing needs.

Well, while the search for a new Presidential smartphone is on, and in light of the Commander-in-Chief's visit to Malaysia this week, we thought we'd share our pick of a few green-robo Android smartphones he could opt for, or use as backup.

Samsung Galaxy S5: A secure smartphone? The Samsung Galaxy S5 certainly fits the bill. It has a fingerprint scanner which not only lets you unlock your device but also, you can use this as an alternative to passwords. There is also a biometric reader to monitor the user's health, which is a plus point considering the President's hectic schedules. The phone is dustproof and water- resistant. And the much improved built-in camera capabilities can also capture outstanding Presidential selfies.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3: The Galaxy Note series has always been popular for its rather large screen and stylus innovation, for better viewing and feasible note taking; we'd dare say it even launched the phablet movement. The Galaxy Note 3, the latest in the line-up has only gotten better since the original Note, hence the no- brainer selection. It also has a commendable battery life and looks premium with the new rose gold trimming - it's all business.

Sony Xperia Z1: Sony's Xperia Z1 was possibly one of the most engaging smartphones last year, winning many hearts, even those who dropped their support for Sony's mobiles just before the smartphone wave. Durable, waterproof, dustproof and somewhat shockproof - just don't drive a car over it - it's one of the best Android phones around. It takes great photos too, so you know your selfies are up a notch in quality.

HTC One M8: Another top Android contender and as far as style is concerned, the HTC One M8 has to be one of the best around with its dark grey aluminium body. It's a stylish phone, fitting for a President. HTC One's user interface, display and performance are all in a class of its own, you can't go wrong with this pick.

Nokia Lumia 1020: All bias aside, we aren't exactly sure why there has been no mention of the Windows OS as a possible candidate - some reports have already ruled out Apple's iOS hence iPhone, but if it was only an oversight, then the Lumia 1020 would be a good deal. It may not be the latest Lumia around but it is definitely one of the best and features the latest Windows OS.

LG G2: This is arguably the best smartphone LG has produced to date. It combines incredible power with a unique design and a wonderful screen to present one of the most appealing Android phones in the market. This one measures 5.2 inches from corner to corner, but LG has done a commendable job of keeping the device as compact as possible. It's thin enough to fit into the President's pocket, no hassles.
