United Kingdom,United States : IQE PLC secured a major order worth US$1m for InSB substrates from its long-term client [TendersInfo (India)](TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The UK-based advanced semiconductor materials company IQE plc has announced recently that it has secured its maiden purchase order agreement for InSb substrate products worth $1 million. The company has revealed that it has won the deal from a long-time customer and major player in the industry. But it has not revealed the name of the customer to date. As part of the new contract, Galaxy Compound Semiconductor Inc., IQE's Infrared s substrate division in the US, will have to supply significant amounts of InSb substrates to the leading customer of the group. The newly secured deal is the firm's biggest order up to now for this new array of Infrared substrate products. InSb is well-matched for mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) imaging technology. Cameras fabricated from InSb are utilized in an extensive range of sophisticated imaging applications such as defence, security, medical and industrial. IQE, which is headquartered in Cardiff, has stated that the firm is the exclusive provider of all InSb to industry, and the company s operations in the US (Galaxy) and the UK (Wafer Technology) jointly fulfill the needs of its clients to deliver a reliable, twin-source supply of InSb substrates. The CEO of IQE plc, Drew Nelson stated, We are very pleased to receive this order from a long term customer of our InSb substrate product range. The scale of this commitment reflects our success in being able to offer a volume manufacturing capability for InSb materials." He added, "The investments that we have made to enhance our crystal growth, wafering and substrate polishing capabilities at both Galaxy and Wafer Technology will enable us to fully meet the InSb product demands of our customers, both in terms of volume and quality, across a full 2 to 6 product range.
