Let's get down to business ... ; BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR CATEGORY [Grimsby Telegraph (UK)]

(Grimsby Telegraph (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) THE shortlist for the Northern Lincolnshire Business Awards 2014 can now be revealed.

Judges met to analyse all nominations, submitted following the grand launch in Business Telegraph back in January. And organisers were thrilled to have a slight uplift in entries for 2014, with a surge in the growth-focused categories.

Anthony Winn, branch manager at Handelsbanken and Kevin Hopper, partner at Forrester Boyd chartered accountants, were joint ratification judges.

Mr Winn said: "Out of all the categories it is fantastic that growth has attracted the most interest. "It really gives a sense of what is going on in the area." This year sees an all-woman line-up in the Business Person Of The Year category, and there is also great diversity when it comes to the sectors and sizes of the competing companies, a factor that was picked up on by Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce northern Lincolnshire manager Anne Tate.

Mr Hopper said: "The quality, as well as the quantity, really stood out for me. There were several really good contenders for each award." The annual event, organised by the Chamber, is sponsored by Telegraph publisher Grimsby & Scunthorpe Media Group. Winners will be revealed at the awards gala dinner, taking place on Friday, May 16 at Grimsby Auditorium. For more information call 01472 342981.
