Industry Analyst Jeff Kagan Says Congrats to AT&T and Volvo Connected Cars

With this deal, AT&T is going to power Volvo's US 2015 model year connected car solution with Sensus Connect. This is high speed wireless connectivity. Volvo customers in the US and Canada will also have access to Volvo On Call, which is a service allowing remote access to car functions and an emergency crash notification service.


Volvo plans to start enabling cars with AT&T on-board for sale during this coming summer.

AT&T, a telematics leader already providers a variety of vehicle solutions to automobile manufacturers world wide. Volvo will use AT&T Single SIM platform for coverage in the US and Canada.

AT&T Connected Car also works with GM with OnStar, Audi, Telsa Motors, Volkswagen, "This is the very early stages of an enormous growth opportunity both for AT&T and the wireless industry in general, and for the automakers themselves." Says Kagan.
