Sarasota Interventional Radiology Installs First Hitachi CT Scanner in Florida

SARASOTA, Fla. --(Business Wire)--

Sarasota Interventional Radiology announced today that it has installed Florida's first Hitachi SCENARIA 128-slice, lower dose CT scanner. Dr. Gerald Grubbs, CEO and Medical Director of Sarasota Interventional Radiology stated, "We have listened to the concerns of our patients and have taken proactive steps in providing a safer means of CT imaging. We are very proud and excited to be the first imaging center in the Sarasota and Bradenton market to deliver this technology."

The SCENARIA CT from Hitachi (News - Alert) delivers faster scan times with enhanced image resolution and less patient radiation than other CT systems in our area. "The new state-of-the-art SCENARIA CT has been designed with integrated dose reduction technologies and reduced kV imaging which together provide a lower amount of radiation exposure. The SCENARIA has the most advanced clinical capabilities to provide a notably more comfortable experience for all patients," said Dr. Grubbs.

Among the unique features included in SCENARIA's comprehensive package is its Cardiac imaging capabilities. Dr. Grubbs explains, "With its dose reducing technology, the SCENARIA CT has been designed to use less radiation dose and is not invasive like conventional cardiac catheterization procedures. This is a much safer alternatie for patients with a high risk of lung cancer and heart disease."

Sarasota Interventional Radiology is proud to partner with Hitachi Medical Systems to provide our patients and our community with a safe and advanced tool for CT imaging. "SIR and Hitachi have entered into a cooperation relationship to further refine CT technology. Our goal is to continue to decrease the radiation dose for all diagnostic and interventional uses of CT to as low as possible," Dr. Grubbs.

"We are very excited about our relationship with Sarasota Interventional Radiology and are proud to see SCENARIA installed in a facility dedicated to excellence," said Mark Silverman, Director of Marketing, CT Products.
