Aviat Networks to Partner with Ubuntu Technologies in South Africa [Professional Services Close - Up]

(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aviat Networks announced an agreement with Ubuntu Technologies to form Aviat-Ubuntu (Proprietary) Limited, a co-branded telecom solutions provider in South Africa.

According to a release, Aviat-Ubuntu will specialize in offering microwave networking solutions using products from the Aviat portfolio such as the new Aviat CTR 8540 microwave router with integrated IP/MPLS capabilities.

"Drawing on Ubuntu's knowledge of the South Africa market and Aviat's longstanding experience in microwave backhaul and general telecoms industries, our combined strength will allow us to address the emerging enterprise services opportunity from Johannesburg to Cape Town and all points between," said Michael Pangia, president and CEO, Aviat Networks. "And with Aviat-Ubuntu's BEE qualifications the volume of proposal work with state-owned companies and all four large South African mobile operators will be maximized." "Aviat-Ubuntu intends to be a force to be reckoned with in the telecommunications sector," said Wandile Bereng, CEO, Ubuntu Technologies. "By joining forces, our two companies will be able to compete aggressively in the telecommunications sector and will be able to expand our client base significantly."
