MTN introduces Mobile Money School Fees Payment service [Ghana News Agency](Ghana News Agency Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Cape Coast, April 11, GNA- MTN Ghana, a telecommunication company, has introduced a school fees payment service under its Mobile Money Service in some senior secondary schools in the Central Region. Mr. Laud Armah, Central/Western Regional Mobile Money Implementation Manager, said the service would enable parents pay their childrens school fees with a click of their mobile phones, reducing the stress they go through to pay school fees. He said the Ghana National College, Holy Child, Edinaman, St. Augustines and Mfantsipim Senior High schools were the five schools operating the service but plans were far advanced to extend it to all senior high schools. Mr. Armah said this when he interacted with the Central Region branch of the Ghana Journalists Association in Cape Coast. He said the service was also aimed at introducing a cashless economy and that a sensitization workshop would be organized for all Parent/Teacher Associations on the system. He said MTN had about 800 Mobile Money merchants in the Central Region and more nationwide and urged parents who had not registered for the service to visit any point of transaction to register and enjoy the service. Mr. David Gyimah Boadi, the Acting Western Regional Senior Manager, said MNT had a lot in store for its customers and would do its best to aid the growth of the economy through its social interventions. Among the projects undertaken in the Central Region are an ICT centre at Ankaful Prisons, a two-storey girls dormitory at Apam Senior High School, the rehabilitation of the Childrens Ward at Twifo Praso Government Hospital and a roofing project at University of Cape Coast. The Western/Central Regional Technical Manager, Mr. Teddy Hayford Acquah, said MTN was putting in place measures to enhance mobile network services. He said the Company had adopted fiber technology to permit transmission over longer distances and at higher bandwidths. He said the destruction and stealing of fiber wires had affected its service delivery. The Corporate Services Advisor (Southern Ghana) Mr. Kennedy Ofosuhene, also thanked the media for its support over the years and pledged to ensure that the cooperation between the two institutions was further enhanced.
