Ayotte-Backed Bill to Boost Manufacturing Advances in Commerce Committee

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WASHINGTON, April 10 -- The office of Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., issued the following news release: The Senate Commerce Committee has approved legislation co-sponsored by Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) that aims to promote American innovation and boost U.S. manufacturing in an increasingly global economy. The bipartisan "Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act" - introduced by Senators Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) - is designed to bring together industry, universities and community colleges, federal agencies and all levels of government to accelerate manufacturing innovation in technologies with commercial applications.

"America has the best workers in the world, and we must also continue to be on the cutting edge of technological innovation," said Senator Ayotte, a Commerce Committee member. "This bipartisan legislation brings the private and public sectors together to help lay the foundation for next generation technologies that will drive our economy in the future." The Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act seeks to leverage federal resources with non-governmental know-how in a broad array of manufacturing sectors that Americans and people all over the world will come to rely on in the future. The legislation would establish public-private institutes to bridge the gap between basic research and product development.

The legislation is supported by several organizations and institutions, including: the University of New Hampshire, the National Association of Manufacturers, BAE Systems, the Medical Device Manufacturers Association, the New England Council, Texas Instruments, the Semiconductor Industry Association, the American Association of Community Colleges and Autodesk.
