Advanced Practice Strategies Hires CFO

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/09/14 -- Advanced Practice Strategies (APS) today announced it has hired Hugh Merryweather as Chief Financial Officer. "Hugh's background in high growth and SaaS companies makes him an ideal fit for APS," says APS CEO Russell Richmond, MD. "Hugh is a great addition to the leadership team and we look forward to leveraging his experience and expertise as APS expands our GNOSIS platform." In February 2013, APS delivered GNOSIS™ to market, and it has rapidly grown to be used by over 500 hospitals in the US. GNOSIS assesses the clinical decision-making of physicians, nurses, and other clinicians as defined by the combination of clinical knowledge and judgment. APS has since launched a number of new products on GNOSIS focusing on the highest risk and impact areas of clinical practice. GNOSIS for Obstetric Hemorrhage, a peer-reviewed product that targets one of the leading causes of maternal deaths worldwide, is set to launch later this month. Additionally, GNOSIS for Emergency Medicine is currently in final beta testing.

"I am very excited to join the APS team," says Hugh Merryweather. "The GNOSIS platform has incredible potential. The existing Obstetrics product has grown significantly over the past twelve months and with the pending launch of an Emergency Medicine product and additional products entering the development pipeline we are looking forward to the challenge of strategically managing our growth." Prior to APS, Hugh most recently was CFO at Zmags Corp, a venture backed software-as-a-service digital publishing and ecommerce-enablement firm based in Boston. Hugh led the sale of Zmags to a large private equity firm in January of 2014. Prior to Zmags, Hugh was both COO and CFO at inStream Media, a provider of cross-channel targeted marketing services. Hugh also served as Global CFO at Circles, where he oversaw several areas of the business including finance, accounting, operations and business development, in addition to opening the Circles London office following its acquisition by Sodexo. Hugh's background also includes experience at edu.com, Fidelity Investments, Bank of Boston and PWC. Hugh holds a joint MBA/MA in Accounting from Northeastern University and a BA in History from Amherst College.
