BRIEF: Stratasys will buy assets of Interfacial Solutions [Star Tribune (Minneapolis) :: ]

(Star Tribune (Minneapolis, MN) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) April 04--3-D printer manufacturer Stratasys Ltd. announced its third acquisition of the week Friday, saying it will buy certain assets of its supplier, the River Falls, Wis.-based Interfacial Solutions.

Interfacial Solutions provides thermoplastics research and development and production services. They have provided thermoplastics and services for Stratasys for three years. Thermoplastics are the systems and meltable strings of plastics that Stratasys uses to "print" or form 3-dimensional plastic parts and products. The Interfacial deal, for which terms were not disclosed, is expected to close by the end of June.

Wednesday, Eden Prarie-based Stratasys announced that it will buy two 3-D printing firms with more than 480 workers mainly in California and Texas.

Stratasys will pay about $295 million for Solid Concepts in Valencia, Calif., and an undisclosed sum for the smaller Harvest Technologies in Belton, Texas. Some Wall Street analysts estimated that Harvest Technologies would sell for roughly $60 million.

The acquisitions will greatly expand Stratasys's contract manufacturing business and will help it capture more medical and aerospace business, company officials said.
