Ph: 585-473-1000 Web site: www.gleason.com Steel Turning, Cast iron Milling Three new inserts grades GC4325, GC4315, and GC3330 now feature Inveio's unidirectional crystal orientation for endurance, predictability, and long tool life. Invelo represents a technical breakthrough in CVD alumina coating in which crystals are lined up in the same direction to create a stronger, uniform structure in coating. The tightly packed crystals create a strong barrier toward the cutting zone and chip. The resulting grades offer outstanding wear resistance. Cutting edges stay in shape and last longer in the cut, especially important in untended production with high metal removal rates. GC4325 is the first choice grade for steel turning. When GC4325 reaches a limit in metal removal rate due to high speed and long time in cut, GC4315 withstands the high cutting temperatures that occur. GC3330 is the first choice grade for milling in cast iron materials.

Sandvik Coromant Ph: 201-794-5000 Web site: www.sandvik.coromant.com Vertical Turning DUO Cell Vertical pick up machines in this modular cell produce quality production, high flexibility and reduced cost. Alliance Automation LLC Ph: 810-953-9539 Web site: www.allianceautomation.biz Single-Cable Solution for Servodrive Technology Typically, motors require two separate cables: one for the motor speed encoder and the other for the motor power supply. With the Hybrid Motor Cable Project called HMC 6, Heidenhain has integrated the encoder lines into the power cable so now only one cable is needed between a synchronous motor and electrical cabinet. All the lines for the encoders, motors and brakes are now available in one cable, thus reducing hardware and associated costs. The connection of the new HMC 6 (Hybrid Motor Cable with 6 litz wires for measuring) single-cable to the motor is done with a special connector. For connection to the inverter, the cable is split into power connections and an encoder connector. This makes it compatible on the control side with all the same components as conventional cables.

Stratasys Ph: 877-489-9449 Web site: www.stratasys.com Koma Precision Introduces New Advanced Tool Presetter Models Elbo Controlli, a leader in presetting solutions distributed through Koma Precision Inc., is continuing its advancement into the tool management market with a new generation of tool presetters. The newly designed 66B and 68B are tailored specifically to customer's requirements of a powerful tool measuring system at a price point that no other solution can match. The new models feature an increased measuring range (from 600 mm up to 800 mm on the Zaxis), a 15" TFT touchscreen along with optical autofocus and new electronic control. These models have larger capacity to handle bigger and heavier tools. Designed completely to be free-standing on its own integral base; they feature a ground granite and stainless steel construction. The high-precision spindle system is fully interchangeable and utilizes a one-piece cartridge with full mechanical tool clamping (pneumatically drawing the tool pull stud into the taper cone) eliminating the need for adaptors and the errors associated with their use. All axis movements on the 66B, 68B models are servocontrolled with absolutely no operator contact with the column. This drastically increases machine accuracy and repeatability over similar machines which incorporate the movement via a manual handle mounted on the column.
