PCTEL Launches SeeGull® CW Transmitter for In-Building Network Testing

BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. --(Business Wire)--

PCTEL (News - Alert), Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a leader in simplifying wireless and site solutions for private and public networks, announced the launch of the SeeGull CW Transmitter today. The transmitter processes up to four continuous wave signals from 400 MHz to 2.6 GHz to support the design, verification, and optimization of in-building wireless networks. The key advantage of four transmit ports is the ability to test four unique frequencies during a single walk test, reducing total testing time.

The CW Transmitter is software defined. It can initially be configured to support two or four transmissions, with the ability to upgrade in the field. The battery-operated unit includes an intuitive user interface to customize transmitting parameters and save for future use. Engineers have a variety of setup choices. Four signals at frequencies from four different operators can be transmitted. Four frequencies from one operator can be set. Any combination can be selected to replicate the actual operating bands and frequencies that will be used inside a venue when the network is live.

Once signal transmitting begins, PCTEL SeeGull line of scanning receivers, including the MX, IBflex™, and EXflex™, collect the data. PCTEL's SeeHawk® or other post-processing tool is then used to analyze the data. These testing results are critical to commission in-building networks with optimal coverage and capacity.

"There is nothing more valuable than real RF data at different frequencies, but real in-building data can be expensive to collect," said David Neumann, PCTEL's Vice President and General Manager, RF Solutions. "The four-port transmitter will significantly cut testing tme for engineers currently using a single-transmit solution to test multiple operator frequencies. This saves valuable time and expense in the race to deploy in-building networks," added Neumann.

The SeeGull CW Transmitter is available as a standalone product, and as part of the PCTEL In-Building Testing Suite (IBTS™). IBTS packages a choice of PCTEL products to meet a customer's specific needs, including: a CW Transmitter, EXflex or IBflex scanning receiver, SeeWave™ interference locating system, and SeeHawk data collection and analysis software.
