Translator With Speech App For Windows Phone Gets Major Update

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 26 March 2014 Release date- 22032014 - Translator With Speech is the best-selling multi-language speech and text translator app for Windows Phone, released by BrilliSoft and Extentia in July 2012.

The app enjoys a 4.5 star rating, with most ratings being 5 stars.

Although Translator With Speech has many useful features, including the ability to translate between 54 languages, voice recognition, speech output, posting translated text to social networks, and sending translated text via email or text message, one of the main reasons it is so popular is that it saves users a fortune on roaming charges when travelling abroad and not near a Wi-Fi connection.

It does this in two ways: firstly, the app ships with a few hundred popular phrase audio files, for each language, that users can access without an internet connection; and secondly, all past translations can be read or played back without an internet connection, so users can preload the app with as many phrases as they think they will need on their trip.

The offline phrases are available in all 54 languages supported by the app. The app ships with text translations for all 54 languages and audio for 10 of these: English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. The audio translations for the other 44 languages are available for download (for free) via the application.

BrilliSoft and Extentia believe this feature is essential in a mobile translator app; anyone who travels overseas knows how expensive data roaming can be. The whole idea of a mobile app is that it's with you wherever you go and you should be able to use it wherever you are. If you walk into a cafe in Paris, for instance, and need to use the translator, you'd probably think twice if you knew you'd be hit with data roaming charges.

Version 3.0 of Translator With Speech has just been released and is now available for download on Windows Phone 8 devices. The new version includes design improvements, improved performance, the ability to translate longer phrases than the previous version allowed, and selecting languages is now easier, as the most frequently used languages always appear first in the language selectors.

BrilliSoft and Extentia are working on numerous features which will be included in upcoming versions, the most important being optical character recognition (OCR): users will be able to take pictures of foreign-language menus or signs and the app will translate the text to their native language.
