Lanyon Partners with GBTA to Offer Online Registration for China Convention

IRVING, Texas --(Business Wire)--

Lanyon, the leader in meetings, events, and hospitality technology, today announced it has partnered with the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) in China to provide attendee registration for its China Conference March 31 - April 2 in Shanghai. The association is using Lanyon's RegOnline™ solution for attendee registration and payment, which has enabled it to issue Chinese tax invoices (Fa Piao) in local currency (renminbi or "RMB"). Enabling RMB within RegOnline has contributed significantly to this year's increased registrations. Additionally, with RegOnline, GBTA is able to automate processes that were previously manual, saving time and resources, and freeing organizers to focus on the primary objective of their event-providing a first-class experience for attendees.

"RegOnline is the only solution that enables us to transact in local currency, making it easy for local attendees to register for our conference," said Welf J. Ebeling, Vice President of Operations, APAC, for Global Business Travel Association. "As of today, half of our delegates have registered in RMB and therefore received a Fa Piao-an essential element for local attendees."

"The business travel market in China is expected to be the world's largest by 2016*," said JR Sherman, President and Chief Revenue Officer at Lanyon. "We are thrilled to be on the forefront of this trend by providing GBTA with the ability to transact in local currency for its China convention. The solution made it easy for attendees to register, while streamlining many of the manual tasks typically associated with attendee registration."

Developed with feedback from planners in mind, RegOnline makes it easy for organizers at small- to mid-sized businesses and associations to plan, promote, and manage events. The solution features an intuitive user interface and navigation structure that simplify accessing the right tools for various stages of event planning-from finding a venue, to promoting the event, to managing attendee registrations, to real-time engagement via the free obile app. An infographic-based dashboard displays key event metrics in one place, such as number of attendees registered, demographics, and the amount of revenue generated.

In addition to powering GBTA China, Lanyon is a premier sponsor of Thought Leadership with the GBTA Foundation. The Company helped to create GBTA's Strategic Meetings Management Program (SMMP) and SMM Maturity Index, as well as its library of digital resources. Lanyon executives regularly speak on topics such as SMM and Big Data for meetings, events, and corporate transient travel at GBTA events around the world.
