Phi Beta Epsilon Offers MIT Summer Housing

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

The Phi Beta Epsilon Corporation today announced that it will offer summer housing for nonmember students in its newly renovated facility on the MIT (News - Alert) campus at 400 Memorial Drive, Cambridge. With a view of the Charles River and the Boston Back Bay as well as central air conditioning, the fraternity house offers an exceptional summer residence opportunity for students in Cambridge. "We are pleased to once again offer a summer residence opportunity for students on the MIT campus, particularly in light of the fact that a number of other MIT affiliated residences will be closed this summer," said Steven C. Carhart '70, President of the Phi Beta Epsilon Corporation.

Applications for summer residence may be submitted through the fraternity's website, http://pbe.mit.edu/website/smmer. Questions may be directed via email to [email protected]. Admission to the summer community will be at the discretion of the fraternity's summer management committee, and all residents must abide by the posted summer rules. Preference will be given to registered MIT students.

The $7.2 million renovation project is intended to set new standards for the quality of undergraduate residential life at MIT through its adoption of advanced audio-visual learning equipment; project collaboration areas; spacious public areas; broad application of sustainability technologies; full disability access; and state of the art durability and low maintenance characteristics. The house was originally built in 1916 when the fraternity moved to Cambridge together with MIT, and was last renovated in 1970. Full details of the renovation are available at www.epsteinjoslin.com/current/phi-beta-epsilon-house-at-mit.

Phi Beta Epsilon, established in 1890, is MIT's oldest local fraternity founded exclusively by and for MIT students. Phi Beta Epsilon is a member of the MIT Interfraternity Council. The Phi Beta Epsilon Corporation is the association of the house's alumni which owns and maintains the fraternity house at 400 Memorial Drive in Cambridge, MA, and provides the undergraduate body with strategic support and mentoring.
