Attorneys create jobs in new North East office [Newcastle Journal (England)]

(Newcastle Journal (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PATENT and trademark attorneys, Secerna LLP, is creating three jobs after opening a new office in Newcastle.

The York-based company has expanded into the North East after seeing a growth in the number of technology businesses in the region.

Secerna already works with a number of established blue-chip technology clients including a flexible pipe manufacturer in Walker and local universities, but is now looking to expand into new start ups in the region.

The new office in Charlotte Square is currently manned by Dan Mercer, an experienced attorney specialising in software, electronics and telecoms. The business will be looking to recruit a further two or three employees this year.

Jason Boakes chairman at Secerna said: "The North East has a strong tradition of innovation in engineering and life sciences however we are now seeing growing levels of activity in other hightech sectors including software, electronics and computing technologies.

We have expanded rapidly since being established in 2011 and it made sense for our next move to be expansion into the North East. We have chosen a location for our new office right in the heart of Newcastle city centre which puts us close to many of the small technology businesses clustered around the centre of Newcastle as well as providing great access to many of the more established companies in Gateshead, Durham and beyond."
