Kickstarter Crowd Backs SnapRay's Power Extraction TechnologyPROVO, Utah --(Business Wire)-- SnapPower www.snappower.com announces its patented technology that solves one of today's biggest home technology space issues by making power more accessible to home automation devices. The new "Power Extraction" technology allows for power to be transferred from the electrical outlet to the cover plate, where it can then be used to power a wide range of technologies housed within the cover plate itself. Their first product, the SnapRays Guidelight, replaces the need for traditional plug-in night lights by utilizing this technology to power LED lights housed within a cover plate, providing energy-efficient home safety and ambience. The Kickstarter crowd has responded in droves. SnapPower debuted its SnapRays Guidelights on the online crowd funding site on March 4. Since that time, SnapRays has achieved phenomenal results: 2,182% funded; 5,060 backers; and over $260,000 raised. "As more and more 'smart' home products are plugged into existing wall outlets, consumers are finding fewer outlets available for the traditional products that need to be plugged in. In order to help solve this problem, we have developed a patented technology that enables us to power smart devices inside outlet cover plates while leaving both outlets available for use. This i especially helpful because the installation takes only seconds and requires no wiring or batteries." The SnapRays Guidelight is designed to be installed over the standard electrical outlet with the patented "Power Extractors" sliding around the electrical outlet receptacle and making contact with the sides of the outlet to draw its power. This proprietary technology is what enables the device to extract power from the receptacle without having to hardwire, plug into or occupy an outlet. The Guidelight is a plug & play replacement for the traditional plug-in and hardwired night lights found on the market today. Installing in seconds with no wires or batteries, the SnapRays Guidelight is designed to look like and replace the standard electrical outlet cover plate. Each SnapRays Guidelight is equipped with light emitting diodes (LEDs) to provide illumination in the dark, while keeping both electrical outlets available for use at all times. For energy efficiency, the Guidelight includes a light sensor that automatically turns the LEDs on in the dark and off in the light.
