Pakistan Post launches computerizes International Mail offices
(Baluchistan Express, The Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Pakistan Post has launched computerized International Mail offices at Islamabad, Lahore, Sialkot and Karachi.
An official of Pakistan Post told that International Postal System (IPS) software provided by Universal Postal Union (UPU) has been installed for processing international letters, parcel and express post items.
He said that this system provides end-to-end tracking of international mail through electronic data inter-change (EDI).
“This system has been linked with the domestic tracking system to make information available on web site” he added.
He said that maximum limit of a single fax money order has been enhanced from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50,000. Similarly, the limit of urgent and ordinary money order has also been enhanced from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000.
He said that Pakistan Post also started the facility of Proof of Delivery (POD) on UMS articles.
He said that Pakistan Post has provided 1701 motor cycles to the delivery staff for prompt delivery of express post as well as normal mail.
He said that welfare of the low-paid postal employees has always been on the priority list of the postal authorities and the instant motorcycle distribution scheme is a sequence of the same policy.
He further said that these motorcycle would enhance the spirit of self-reliance in low-paid postal employees and certainly boost their living standards.
