Winner of the First Annual Compare Metrics + Leap Motion Hackathon Announced at SXSW

AUSTIN, Texas --(Business Wire)--

Compare Metrics, the leading provider of Adaptive Commerce navigation and discovery tools, and Leap Motion, the creator of innovative technology that enables users to interact with computers in more natural and dynamic ways, today announced Team PolyDrop as the winning team of the First Annual Compare Metrics + Leap Motion Hackathon competition. The Hackathon Awards Ceremony was held Saturday, March 8 at 8 p.m. at Capital Factory, where the top three teams showcased their work for over 75 attendees that were in Austin to kickoff the South by Southwest Interactive (SXSWi) Festival.

The PolyDrop app is eligible to be accepted into Leap Motion's Airspace app store, and the team of Josh Kelle, Dallas Kelle and Matt Broussard will receive a full Unity3D Professional license plus get an interview with the Leap AXLR8R for consideration in their next class. The accelerator program provides members with a $25,000 stipend and mentorship from experts such as John Underkoffler (UI designer behind Minority Report), and design & innovation consulting firm IDEO, amongst others.

Judges Garrett Eastham of Compare Metrics, Josh Baer of Capital Factory, William Hurley of Chaotic Moon Studios, Jon Loyens of HomeAway, and Avinash Dabi from Leap Motion chose Team PolyDrop as the winner after the top finalists from each of the three tracks (Discovery, Gaming and Design) demonstrated their final products at the March 8 event.

The Hackathon on February 21-23 served as a platform for software engineers in the early stages of their careers to demonstrate their skills and abilities for a collection of renowned companies in the Austin startup community. Each hacker that completed a project in the February Hackathon received a Leap Motion Controller of their own to continue exploring and designing experiential applications.

"SXSWi is a great atmosphere to connect with others from around the industry and expand your own personal horizons in the world of tech. Moreover, we were thrilled to be a part of this event that has showcased the wonderful and unique talent located right in our own backyard of Austin, Texas," said Garrett Eastham, CEO of Compare Metrics.
