The evening gala and awards honored the most innovative British companies and individuals conducting business in Florida, Floridian companies making a positive contribution to the UK economy and entrepreneurs who have helped further the almost $4 billion bilateral economic partnership. Welsh actress and star of the upcoming film based on the long standing British TV series, Dr. Who, Samira Mohamed Ali, was the master of ceremonies.

Her Majesty's Consul General, Kevin McGurgan OBE, of the British Consulate-General Miami, presented the 2014 Entrepreneur of The Year Award to Sean Yazbeck. After winning season five of Donald Trump's “The Apprentice,” the British expat set-up the telecommunications services company, WAVSYS, which today is an Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Company in America, employing more than 500 people and providing over $100 Million of services across the US, UK, Canada and the EU.


Her Majesty's Consul General, Kevin McGurgan OBE, also honored Marcelo Claure, Chairman and CEO of BrightStar Corporation, with a “Special Recognition“ Award. Mr. Claure is also an investment partner with soccer personality, David Beckham, for his MLS team franchise in Miami Developed to highlight the achievements and impact of British business in Florida, BritWeek Miami is in alliance with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the British Consulate-General Miami and a series of strategic media, event and industry partners – each collectively helping to bring a focus on the dynamic and fast growing cultural relationship between Britain and Florida. A portion of proceeds resulting from this year's BritWeek Miami will benefit the Little Dreams Foundation – recording artist Phil Collins' non-profit charity organization that has recently started its operation in South Florida to help advance the youth and children with an artistic and musical talent.
