New First in the "City of Firsts", 10 Gigabit Internet Speed for NSU, Tahlequah OK

This increase in speed will enable faster remote campus data transfers and empower research and education at all levels across the seven colleges located at NSU and its remote campuses in Broken Arrow and Muskogee OK. Rural Broadband Services Corporation Inc., (doing business in Oklahoma as RBSC Oklahoma LLC) is working in conjunction with OneNet, to provide Northeastern State University (NSU), a rural higher learning institution located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, with a high speed broadband circuit capable of obtaining up to ten Gigabits per second speeds for transmitting digital data.

This rural, high speed, multi-gigabit, circuit will be available to NSU by March 15, 2014 on RBSC’s all fiber, carrier grade, Smart Ethernet Network, providing 99.999% reliability. When this multi-gigabit circuit is activated, NSU will become the first rural, higher learning institution in the state of Oklahoma, and possibly the first rural higher learning institution in the US, with the capability to transmit data at the ten Gigabit level. In addition, RBSC and NSU are evaluating connecting NSU’s affiliated institutions and community service organizations throughout the State of Oklahoma.
