GA Driver Services Commissioner Rob Mikell Appointed to State Board by Governor(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ATLANTA, March 5 -- The Georgia Department of Driver Services issued the following news release: Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) Commissioner Rob Mikell was recently appointed to serve on the State Employee Benefit Plan Council by Governor Nathan Deal. Mikell leads the State Agency responsible for driver testing and issuance including motorcycle safety, driver education and driver improvement. "I appreciate the opportunity from Governor Deal to serve on this important Council," said Commissioner Mikell. "I share a common interest in developing and improving benefit plans which contribute to the quality of life for our state's workforce." The State Employee Benefit Plan Council is composed of State Personnel Board members, state agency management and employees plus a member from the private sector.It is the general policy making entity for the State Health Benefit Plan. Commissioner Mikell was appointed DDS Commissioner by Governor Deal in October of 2012.He previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of DDS for five and one-half years and as Deputy Director for the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). He has actively served in leadership roles for professional associations throughout his career.Presently, he sits on the International Board of Directors for the Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA).He serves on the National Sheriff's Association's Traffic Safety Committee and the Georgia Piedmont College Law Enforcement Academy POST Advisory Board.He is the immediate past president of AAMVA Region II and is past president of the Rockdale County Bar Association. Mikell earned a bachelor's degree from The Citadel, a law degree from Washington & Lee University and a master's degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University.
