NetScout Supports Special Olympics Celebrity Winterfest for Seventh Consecutive Year

SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

NetScout® Systems, Inc., today announced that for the seventh consecutive year, the company will participate in the annual Special Olympics Northern California & Nevada Celebrity Winterfest, taking place February 28 - March 2, 2014, on the slopes of Lake Tahoe's Diamond Peak. This year also marks the fourth consecutive year that NetScout (News - Alert) will sponsor the "Let the Games Begin" Welcome Reception being held from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28th at the Hyatt Regency Resort in Incline Village, Nevada. Proceeds from the events provide much-needed funding for more than 18,800 intellectually disabled athletes across Nevada and Northern California who rely on the generous donations from the community to receive free sports training and competition throughout the year.

The centerpiece of the event is the Corporate Ski Challenge, representing the largest fundraiser of the year for Special Olympics Northern California and Nevada. NetScout will be sponsoring a team consisting of eight skiers, one celebrity and one special Oympian in order to raise funds and increase awareness of the mission of the Special Olympics Northern California.

By participating in Special Olympics, athletes gain self-confidence and self-esteem that carries over into their daily lives, leading to greater academic success, improved interpersonal relationships and a positive school experience.

"What makes this event extraordinary is that in addition to directly benefiting special education students, we ourselves benefit through serving as mentors and student coaches, promoting diversity and acceptance for everyone," said Ken Boyd, chief information officer and senior vice president, services at NetScout. "This is about more than just sports - it's about changing lives, and watching the thrill and enjoyment of athletes as they go through the competition is amazing and very touching," added Boyd who has served as a board member for Special Olympics Northern California & Nevada for the past seven years.
