Multi-Tech Customer Aclara Wins Connected World Gold Award(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 Multi-Tech Systems announces that its customer, Aclara Technologies LLC, has won Connected World Magazine’s highest honor, a Gold Award, for implementation of Multi-Tech machine-to-machine (M2M) technology in its STAR® Network system. The Connected World Awards are given at bronze, silver, and gold levels to honor companies that have successfully leveraged, with quantifiable results, M2M connectivity to solve critical problems. Aclara’s STAR Network implementation was nominated in the Utilities category. The STAR Network consists of three components: Meter Transmission Units (MTUs), Data Collector Units (DCUs) and the Network Control Computer (NCC). Multi-Tech’s SocketModem technology was used in the DCUs to transmit meter readings to the Network Control Computer headend software application for analysis. The technology allows Aclara to reduce the time it takes to implement cellular backhaul and also reduces costs to its customers.
