The Guide: the planner: CATCH UP AND DOWNLOAD

(Guardian (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) * Babylon 4oD Armstrong and Bain's police dramedy (pictured, right) packed swipes at PR, bureaucracy and obsession with social media into its sprawling, Danny Boyle-directed pilot. Reviews flitted between a muddled if ambitious curio and a bracing, blackly comedic tour de force, but the truth lies somewhere in between. A cop Thick Of It laced with Black Mirror nihilism, catch the inaugural episode on 4oD ahead of the full series due later this year.

* Life In Scents iTunes A most olfactory audio experience, as producer Jo Barratt chats to guests about the experience of scent, from the heady yeast of an operational brewery to the malodorous whiff of decay.

* My Mad Fat Diary 4oD Series two of E4's growing-pains drama is underway, with Sharon Rooney excellent in the role of troubled teenager Rae, struggling to deal with higher education, a boyfriend she's decided is out of her league, and a mother going through "the change". With Mad Fat, it's not so much catch up as pre-empt, with the series running an episode ahead on 4oD.

* Nashville 4oD The first half of ABC's unashamedly soapy drama's second season addressed many concerns held about the first, with supporting players fleshed out and annoying plot threads put to bed. Ostensibly the tale of two female country music stars, it's still a show largely concerned with exploring all possible conjugal permutations of its gaggle of attractive characters, and that's why it remains so popular - it's like Melrose Place in a stetson. Join the hoedown over on 4oD.

* Britain Underwater: Panorama BBC iPlayer What is behind the waves of freak weather that have battered the United Kingdom these last few weeks, and why have we struggled to cope? Reporter Richard Bilton pulls on his waders to experience the relief effort first-hand, and asks if the politicians are at fault.

* Sleepy Hollow Universal, iTunes This supernatural police drama (pictured, inset), in which an 18th-century soldier rises from the dead to assist a modern-day detective in pursuit of a gun-toting headless horseman (also reanimated, natch), turned out to be infinitely more fun than that wobbliest of wobbly pitches suggests. With the comedy, scares and depth of character you'd expect from the team behind the underrated Fringe, you can catch up with the entire series on Universal, or download the entire first run on iTunes.
