Tech Council of Maryland Names New Board Members
ROCKVILLE, Md. --(Business Wire)--
The
Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), Maryland's largest technology trade
association with more than 400 life science and technology members
employing over 200,000 in the region, today announced that individuals
from Hewlett-Packard (News - Alert) Co., Johns Hopkins University, MedImmune, RCM&D and
SoBran Inc. were named to the association's board of directors.
"We are excited to have this impressive group of individuals on the TCM
board," said Phil Schiff, TCM's CEO. "Their individual and collective
expertise will be invaluable as the association evolves to address the
changing needs of our membership."
The new board members include:

Matt Bell, COO and Vice President of MedImmune Biotech Operations
at MedImmune - Bell combines a background in science, drug
discovery and the pharmaceutical business. In his current role, Bell
leads a team of about 300 staff across three R&D sites and has overall
responsibility for key R&D support functions, including MedImmune
Project and Portfolio Management, R&D Informatics (News - Alert), Training &
Standards, Strategic Planning and Site Operations.

Christy Wyskiel, Senior Advisor to the President for Enterprise
Development at Johns Hopkins University - Wyskiel is a seasoned
entrepreneur and investor with 19 years of experience primarily
focused on the life sciences and healthcare industries. At Johns
Hopkins Universiy, she is focused on matters of innovation,
commercialization, and entrepreneurship. Prior to her career as an
entrepreneur, Wyskiel was a managing director at Maverick Capital, a
long-short equity hedge fund with over $12 billion under management,
and earlier in her career, she was a healthcare and medical technology
stock analyst at T. Rowe Price.

Karen Byank Mathura, RN, JD, CPHRM, Claims & Risk Management
Consultant for RCM&D - Mathura has more than 13 years combined
experience providing intensive care, trauma, open heart recovery room
and emergency department nursing; litigating and defending medical
malpractice and hospital negligence claims; and providing claims and
risk management support and consultation. In her current role, Mathura
is a Claims & Risk management consultant in SISCO. She is responsible
for managing liability claims and provides specific risk management
advice to reduce potential exposure and risk for healthcare
organizations. In addition, she works with Life Sciences and
Pharmaceutical firms in providing risk management consulting services.

Joel Beaton, Regional Client Executive, Hewlett-Packard Company
- Beaton is the regional client executive within the Public Sector
region of the Enterprise Services business unit of Hewlett-Packard. He
has led HP Pursuit Teams for $1+ billion mega deals within the Public
Sector-Federal and State/Local Government clients, with particular
scopes of service that involve large/complex IT outsourcing, data
center operations/consolidation, cyber security, applications
modernization, analytics and cloud computing. In the last five years
Beaton has qualified (origination) of over $6.5+ billion in new
business for the organization.

Gregory Kelly, PhD, Senior Vice President, BioScience at SoBran Inc.
- Kelly heads SoBran BioScience, the largest division within SoBran,
and has been with the company since 2002. An accomplished business
leader and manager, Kelly has more than 30 years' experience
conducting scientific research and directing large, complex research
support programs. He has conducted and managed research in the fields
of molecular biology and toxicology at government-sponsored
laboratories and universities, and in private industry. Under his
leadership, SoBran Biosciences research support has more than doubled,
with significant expansions in contracting to the federal government,
scientific and technical support for academic institutions, and
initiation of contract research focused on preclinical toxicology.
