VuCOMP, Inc. Management Team Names Barry Burgdorf COO [Health & Beauty Close - Up]

(Health & Beauty Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) VuCOMP, Inc., developer of advanced computer-aided detection (CAD) and automated breast density assessment technology for mammography, announced that it has appointed Barry Burgdorf as the company's Chief Operating Officer, and promoted Kathleen Kelly to Director of U.S. Sales.

According to a release, Burgdorf, former vice chancellor and general counsel for the University of Texas System as well as general counsel for Samsung Austin Semiconductor, will step in as the company's first COO, a position created in response to VuCOMP's rapid growth. He will manage the day-to-day business operations and apply his experience in capital financing, regulation and compliance, joint ventures, and general corporate governance. Burgdorf will also play a key role in shaping the company's vision and strategic direction.

Kelly, who began with VuCOMP as a regional sales manager, has over 20 years of experience in sales with diagnostic imaging companies including GE Healthcare, Aurora Imaging Technology, and Summit Medical Technologies. She has spent over ten years in women's imaging with the launch, commercialization, and sales of the Aurora Dedicated Breast MRI system. She will be responsible for account management, sales strategies, planning and managing the company's national salesforce.

"We are very pleased to welcome Barry to VuCOMP and believe that his experience and skill sets are ideal for this exciting stage of the company," said VuCOMP CEO Jeff Wehnes. "Combining this with Kathy's impressive pedigree in medical imaging and women's health, we are bringing tremendous strength to our executive team which is more than ever prepared to drive and manage growth." Since the debut of M-Vu CAD in 2012 and M-Vu Breast Density in December, the company has experienced a positive market reaction and demand. VuCOMP has also recently signed strategic OEM agreements with Siemens, Fuji, Philips and Konica-Minolta which will help the company to more effectively reach and penetrate the mammography detection technologies market.
