Philo Named One of Fast Company's 'World's 50 Most Innovative Companies 2014'

NEW YORK & CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --(Business Wire)--

Fast Company's annual "Most Innovative Companies" issue honors leading businesses including Google, Amazon, Airbnb, and Nike (last year's Most Innovative Company), along with such rising newcomers as GoPro (News - Alert), GoldieBlox and Fitbit. This year, Fast Company recognized Philo, Inc. as one of their "World's 50 Most Innovative Companies 2014." Philo makes any private data network a television-delivery platform, bringing live TV programming and DVR to laptops, tablets, phones and streaming devices through a sleek-user interface. Philo brings cable and satellite TV to university campuses in a completely new way, connecting the important college-aged demographic with the TV they want on the devices they use.

"The culture of innovation across the globe is more robust than ever," reports Fast Company editor Robert Safian, who identifies 12 lessons of innovation for 2014 within the issue. "To win in such a fast-changing environment requires a new kind of business agility."

"We are thrilled to be named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies and honored that our innovations have been recognized among these incredible companies shaping our future around the world," said Christopher Thorpe, Philo's CEO. "Our goal has been to continually innovate to create the absolutely best experience to enjoy television - whenever, wherever and however people want to watch."

The Most Innovative Companies is Fast Company's most significant, high-profile editorial effort of the year. The editorial team spends months gathering and sifting data, in order to identify those enterprises that exemplify the best in business from across the economy and around the world. The end result is a package that dares to be different, emphasizing not just revenue growth and profit margins but also progressive, sustainable business models and an ethos of creativity. This year's honorees also include major brands such as Dodge, Johnnie Walker, GE, and Michael Kors; creative upstarts like Warby Parker and Box (News - Alert); and food-technology companies Beyond Meat and BrightFarms.

Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies issue (March 2014) is on newsstands beginning February 17 and available online at www.fastcompany.com/MIC and the Apple (News - Alert) App Store.
